While vehicle inspection may seem like an intimidating process to some, you can feel comfortable and confident going through inspection after the information and quick tips provided on this page.
The inspection process will examine the key components of a safe vehicle and will not require you to do anything that you would not normally do while driving. A typical inspection consists of:
- A safety inspection covering such items as tires, brakes, and windows
- An exhaust emissions inspection that analyzes the vehicle's exhaust
- A test of the fuel system for leaks
Vehicle inspections are performed at all four DMV facilities, and every DMV inspection technician is certified and trained in all aspects of the inspection process.
There is no fee for inspection.
