Effective April 13, 2025, the Department of Transportation (DOT) Medical Examiner Certificate (MEC) information for Commercial Learner's Permit (CLP) and Commercial Driver's License (CDL) applicants and holders will be electronically transmitted directly from the National Registry system to the Delaware Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV). This transition will eliminate the responsibility of the driver to submit their paper copy of the MEC to the DMV in order to maintain their commercial driving privileges.
As a result, beginning April 13, 2025, the Delaware DMV will no longer accept MECs (Form MCSA-5876) from individual drivers. Additionally, the CDL Medical Self-Certification application will be removed from the MyDMV portal.
