House Bill 180 signed by into law on August 30, 2013, requires all commercial vehicles registered in the State of Delaware on or after January 1, 2014, with a gross weight rating of 26,001 pounds or more, be equipped with one or more of the following:
- An audible reverse warning signal.
- A backup camera visible in the cab of the vehicle.
- An audible warning device that will alert the driver when the vehicle is approaching an object.
This new law applies to trucks in the International Registration Plan (IRP) and non-IRP trucks. It applies to single and combination vehicles.
There is no requirement to retrofit existing trucks that are registered in Delaware.
